Our website Content Management System comes internet ready, however the site is 'vanilla', which means it needs to be filled with content. By adding text, graphics and so on you can create your own distinctive site. On this page we have some examples of how you can get the best look from your site. |

Creating your banner
With the site for Alton castle we have used a photograph as the main banner, we have then added text to create the banner image. By also using photographs in the main section it also breaks up the look of the page. A banner needs to be 780 pixels wide but can be as high as you choose. The image on the alton site is 160 pixels high.
The colour of the menu and the background colour were also chosen to compliment the blues in the banner. |

Choosing a graphics programme
On the discover tours banner we created different layers on the graphic (This effect can be done with a number of good graphics programmes, for example Paint Shop Pro or a freeware programme called Photobie). We took a seascape background image and added some smaller graphics over the top. After adding the name of the site we saved the image as a .gif and loaded it into the image management section of the website.
On the home page we then created a paragraph with an image, then another paragraph with an image on the opposite side to create balance.

Over all design
With the Peco domains site you can see the importance of the banner in creating the whole look for your site. Once the banner had been designed [click here to find out more about our design services] we chose complimentary text colour and backgrounds to finish the site off.
The text style can be changed in the basic website properties section of your site. Here we have chosen veranda in a dark blue.

Additional graphics
This site shows how the use of graphics on a page can create a professional look to your site. As well as a top banner we have created a page title graphic (600x50 pixels) and a footer image (600x160 pixels) to try and bring the whole page together. The additional images have just been uploaded to the Image management section and then incorporated into a top and a bottom paragraph without any text. the text colour was then chosen to compliment the blues within the graphics.

Alternative designs
For this website the home page just consists of a single graphic (600x400 pixels) as well as the top banner. The graphic has been created using a graphics programme (see above) and consists of a number of small images layers on to a large white graphic. Different coloured text has then been layered over the image.
